Abraham Lincoln once said that he used every job he had to make himself a better lawyer for the people he represented. Scott Loftis has adopted that same approach and works every day to be a better attorney and counselor for his clients.

Scott was born in Prattville, Alabama and graduated from The Montgomery Academy in 1989. He attended Auburn University where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in political science and pre-law. Scott then attended Jones School of Law in Montgomery Alabama where he earned his Juris Doctor degree. While attending Jones, Scott joined the United States Air Force where he served for four years in the Civil Engineering Squadron at Maxwell Airforce Base. He learned the importance of paying attention to details and applying discipline to everything he does while working to maintain the Base at maximum efficiency.

After serving his country in the Airforce, Scott worked for the Second Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office in Greenville, Alabama. During his time as the Chief Assistant District Attorney, he developed a sense of compassion for the victims he represented and learned the importance of fair justice in the legal system. Scott ensured that everyone received a fair trial. He added knowledge of the criminal system and laws so that he can now work diligently to defend those charged with criminal crimes.

Having completed many jury trials in the past, Scott brings a tenacious and thorough approach to defending his clients and knows how to communicate with not only the court, but those sitting in the jury box deciding the facts. Scott firmly believes that everyone is innocent until proven guilty and will fight to make sure the true facts of a case are presented.

Scott went on to private practice where he developed his legal writing skills and learned the intricacies of civil law. He has represented many clients in civil lawsuits, all around the state, involving anything from simple contract matters to complicated Personal Injury cases. Scott learned probate law during this time and can always help with setting up a will or Trust. He learned the ins and outs of bankruptcy law and how to help folks struggling with their finances to get back on a level playing field. Scott has been doing bankruptcy work in all districts of the state of Alabama for almost 20 years. He is continuing this work for The Sellers Law Firm and its clients on a daily basis and is ready to help anyone get out of a financial bind and regain peace of mind.

Scott has been married for 28 years and has two sons, Jack and Sam. Having one son at Auburn and one son at Alabama makes for an interesting Thanksgiving every year. While family always comes first, it has certainly, added to Scott’s mediation skills keeping the peace. Scott is an avid golfer and loves animals. He has two dogs, 4 cats, and plans to add more to the family. Scott and his wife are avid gardeners and enjoy growing their own vegetables in their various gardens.

Scott has been practicing law for over 20 years and has made it his mission to learn better ways to use his position as a Lawyer/Counselor to help those who need help. Scott is always on top of the ever- changing laws and makes sure he can use them to help a client with whatever matter may be facing them. His greatest moment during each day is hearing a sigh of relief from his client when he is done giving them advice on an issue that they have brought to him. Knowing he has taken a weight off their shoulders, that they have someone who cares about their problems, understands their issue, and is going to be in their corner, is his goal with every client he has the honor to represent. Scott firmly believes that The Sellers Law Firm is like a family, and he extends the same kind of care and concern to all of his clients as he does his work family. He knows that each client is important, and he makes it his goal to help meet their needs and to let them know he cares about them and their issues.
